Top 20 Quotes from Leadership Summit (2014)

I spent the last two days flooded with insights and encouragement from speakers at the Leadership Summit. For those of you who may be unaware, The Leadership Summit is a two day conference hosted by Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago. Central has hosted the event the last few years at one of our campuses.

Below I’ve selected twenty of my favorite quotes from the event. Each of these quotes is my best representation in writing of what they said verbally or a summary thereof. Any errors in wording are my own. Click here to see other posts I’ve done featuring my top 20 quotes.

Top 20 Quotes from Q 2014

Top 20 Quotes from Q 2014

I went to the first two Q conferences eight years ago and haven’t been able to make it back since. My third one was long overdue and was another great experience. Q is a unique conference in that it targets the church and culture and looks for ways to bring them together.

Here are my twenty favorite quotes from the event (or at least my best effort to capture what they said). Click here to see other posts I’ve done featuring my top 20 quotes.

Andy Crouch

  • The test of the common good is the flourishing of the vulnerable.
  • If you care about the flourishing of the vulnerable you will care about religious freedom.
  • If we don’t learn how to properly accommodate others we will end up with a false pluralism.

Top 20 Quotes from Catalyst West 2014

I had the opportunity to experience another great Catalyst event. This time it was Catalyst West Coast with some of the Creative Arts team from Central. This year marked the first time my friend Tyler Reagin was fully at the helm as well as the first time (that I’m aware of at least) that Andy Stanley was not a speaker. It was another great year of discovering new speakers, encouragement from new experiences and ideas, and going deeper in the friendships with the rest of the team.

Here are my twenty favorite quotes from the event (or at least my best effort to capture what they said). Click here to see other posts I’ve done featuring my top 20 quotes.

Top 20 Quotes from Catalyst

Catalyst East 2013

I had previously attended the Catalyst One Day and the Catalyst West Coast events. This week, I experienced the big boy of Catalyst in Atlanta.

Like I’ve done for the last three years of the Leadership Summit, I grouped the ideas that most stood out to me. Below I’ve selected twenty of my favorite quotes from the event (which turned out to be VERY difficult to narrow down). Each of these quotes is my best representation in writing of what they said verbally or a summary thereof. Any errors in wording are my own.

Bill Hybels

Everyone wins when a leader gets better.

God didn’t make you a leader to respond to stuff all day. He made you a leader to move stuff ahead!

The leader’s most valuable asset is their energy and their ability to energize people, not their time.

It’s one thing to see a vision and another to be seized by one.
