Freecell is so 90’s

I found a little game to play online when you’ve got a few minutes to spare and it’s actually surprisingly addictive. You build little towers and try to evade the “creepies.” It’s completely online, so you don’t have to download anything. You know you have those moments when you just need to give your brain a break.

It’s called “Desktop Tower Defense 1.5” and sure beats the old games like Freecell. Click here to play it.

Reseeding

I’m getting my lawns ready for reseeding next week so I began scalping them and then turned off my watering system. The whole point of this is to essentially kill my current grass by getting it to go dormant in preparation for the new grass that I’ll soon be planting. It’s a weird process that usually doesn’t make sense to us logically. Death brings life. It is simple things like this that remind me of Jesus’ words in John 12:24-25:

“Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Those who love their life will lose it, while those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.”

The First Ever “Trady”

Image and video hosting by TinyPicI have a new idea. I’m adding an award section to my blog. This is where I’ll give out random awards to people that I think deserve to be noticed.

So…(drumroll please)…I’m giving the first-ever “Tomorrow’s Reflection Award for Distinguishing Yourself,” also known as a “Trady,” to a guy named Zack Hample. What has Zack done to deserve such a prestigious honor? I’m glad you asked.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicZack is known for catching important home run baseballs at ballparks. Recently, Zach has added 2 of the last homeruns ever hit at Yankee Stadium and the last homerun ball ever hit by the Mets at Shea Stadium. Is it luck, or something more?

You may wonder what this guy does for a living. He charges people $500 to take him to a baseball game and ensure that they get a ball while they are there. He even guarantees it! Well done Zack, you’ve just been Trady-ed!

Thanks to Romi for this find. I now open it to the readers: do you know of anyone that deserves a Trady? If so, email it to me and maybe you’ll see their names next to their own Trady sometime soon.

Here are the requirements to be considered for this award:

  1. The person must have some unique talent or passion (neigh, obsession) that is different from most people
  2. The person must be someone who is not a “celebrity” and that needs the attention and power that comes from receiving a Trady
  3. The person must do something that someone else could argue was a complete waist of time

Derek Jeter and My Son

Michelle decided to humor an idea I had for our baby room and now we have a life-sized Derek Jeter “Fathead” on our wall. My kid doesn’t even know how good he’s gonna have it. After how nice it looked I then proposed that we could put more of these around our house. That idea hasn’t caught on yet…

Bible Reading Plan

We put together a 90 day Bible Reading plan (spread out between 15 weeks) at thirdformat.com for people to read through together. I want to extend the invitation to anyone who wants to read through this with us.

You can download it here.

Also, we created a Google group for people to discuss things as we go. Click here to check it out.

427

That is the number of how many people were baptized at our 8 weekend services the last two days. I’ve never seen anything remotely like it in my life. I am so humbled just to be a part of it.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicWe have been in our “Carried Away” series and have been looking at what it means to follow after Jesus Christ. What is truly amazing is that we have especially focused on the cost of following Jesus. And 427 people decided it was worth it.

What stood out to me the most was the look on each person’s face. It was evident as some of them cried, some looked nervous, some were super excited… that each person had a story and a past. And each of those stories was probably radically different. I saw people come from my small group, I saw people that I’ve never had the chance to personally meet, even people from our own Third Format band! I’m pretty sure our Sunday 3F service made history by baptizing a family of four at the same time! But each person had come to the same conclusion in that moment: that they wanted to surrender their life over to following Jesus. I will cherish this memory for the rest of my life.
